DODGEBALL DAY IN THE TWIN CITIES

A slushy Minnesota spring let up just in time to give us one great afternoon of Dodgeball. Teams from around the Twin Cities and Minnesota gathered Saturday morning on floor of the Xcel Energy Center, eager to take part in this year’s Mpls/ St. Paul - Championship Tour Stop and 2nd annual “Dodgeball Day with the Minnesota Swarm.”

We kicked off the day’s events with several rounds of Round Robin play allowing teams to get to know one anther and feel out the competition. Working our way towards the tournament bracket we saw many familiar faces. The Slawber Knawkerz, Bethel Bombsquad and Detox Dodgers all made an appearance. Along with EPHS - Eden Prairie High School, Blue Devils, Minnesota Massacre, Aperture Scientists, and E-Lemon-aters. We saw so many talented teams, it was difficult to pick a clear leader.

Once we hit the tournament brackets our leaders began to emerge. And in the final contest, it came down to a match up between the EPHS - Eden Prairie High School team and the Slawber Knawkerz. Victory could have gone easily to either one of these teams and it was close all the way to the end. It all came down to league experience, team work, and perhaps a little luck as the Slawber Knawkerz prevailed taking home first place honors. Congratulations.

But that’s not all. Dodgeball Day was just getting started. Each team received tickets to the Minnesota Swarm lacrosse game with a special halftime Chicago Vendetta VS. Minnesota Blur professional dodgeball exhibition game. The house was packed and the pros gave them a great show.

We would like to extend a special thanks the member of the Chicago Vendetta: Bryan, Alan, Greg, and Zach. Their help refereeing and running this event. Great job guys.
